Hanging Art on the Wall -- Right Where You Want It

Here is how to hang framed art on the wall, and get it exactly where you want it. You'll need a pencil, measuring tape, 2 ft. level, 2 E-Z Anchors and their screws (Home Depot, "Fasteners" aisle), 5" of masking tape, and another person.

First, measure across the top of the frame and divide the measurement in half. Then place the left edge of the masking tape at that measurement, from the front of the frame, across the top and to the back of the frame. That is your center point.
Second, have the person helping you stand back from the wall, and with the pencil in your writing hand pick up the art and hold it against the wall about where you think it should go. Have your person tell you how to move the art ("up", "down", "left", "right") until it looks best. Once it is there, hold the art against the wall with one hand and put a little mark on the wall at the left edge of the masking tape.
Third, place your art on the floor face down, extend your measuring tape from the left edge of the masking tape, under the wire, to below the wire across the back of the art, and lock the measuring tape. Now take hold of the wire with both index fingers about 5" each side of your center point and stretch the wire firmly towards the top of the art. Take note of what the measurement is from the top edge of the frame to where the wire intersects the measuring tape.
Fourth, place another little mark on the wall exactly that measurement below your first mark on the wall. Put the bottom edge of your level on that lower mark, adjust the level until the bubble is right in the middle, hold it firmly in place, and then put two more little marks on the wall about 5" on either side of that lower mark. Those 2 marks are where your anchor and screws go.
Fifth, at each of those 2 marks screw an E-Z Anchor into the wall until it is flush with the wall, and then screw an E-Z Anchor screw into each anchor. Leave the screws sticking out about 1/4".
Finally, with the person helping you on one side of the art and you on the other, hold the art with one hand and the wire with the other hand and each of you hook the wire over the E-Z Anchor screw nearest to you. And voila! your art is right where you want it! Because it is hung on 2 screws you can adjust the art to level it and it will stay right there. Just remember to take off the masking tape!
